Hi, I’m Brielle Rainney!
My journey to midwifery started long before I realized. I was born at Best Start Birth Center in San Diego. As a child I remember watching ‘A Baby Story’, and hearing my own mom say “If I’d had one more baby I would have just stayed at home!” I was never taught to fear birth- a unique perspective in the United States!
My favorite part of midwifery happens during the in-between. It’s the moments of quiet during prenatal visits where we talk about your pregnancy, remedies for what’s bothering you, reviewing labs, ultrasounds, discussing all of your hopes and wishes, and sitting beside the tub as your labor your baby down. It’s in-between those moments where I get to fall in love with my clients. I get to watch your journey from such an intimate place, and it feels like a gift to walk beside you and your family during such a sacred time of life.
Outside of midwifery you can likely find me in my garden, soaking up the sunshine, and adorning my yard with more flowers, fruits, and vegetables. I often sneak in some rides on my horses. But most of my days are filled with the giggles of my daughters. I get the wonderful gift of little people to explore the world with. I get to move slowly down a hiking trail, examining every flower. It takes me 5 times as long to cook dinner, because tiny hands want to help. Getting to be with families as a midwife while I have my own small children is deeply fulfilling and special.
Hi, I’m Kelly Traurig
Hi, I’m Kelly! I have been a part of the community birth world for 6+ years as a doula and student midwife, and am excited to continue my journey as a newly licensed midwife. My greatest joy is supporting families in welcoming their newest member in a gentle, loving way. In addition to midwifery, I am also passionate about shamanic medicine, and enjoy incorporating emotional & spiritual support into the care I provide. I believe in birth as a sacred process, which should be respected and supported according to a family's individual needs and wishes.
When I’m not a birth, I can be found meditating, SCUBA diving with my husband, traveling, or snuggling my two kitties. I am also excitedly awaiting the birth of my first child in June of 2023... or whenever he decides to come! I look forward to supporting you and your family in this amazing journey.
